Hi all, happy to find this forum.

My vet hasn't "staged" Baxter's ckd. He had "trace" protein in his most recent urinalysis. I am having a hard time getting his most recent bun/creatinine values from the different vet we went to. Hopefully will be able to upload this week. Everything I have is on his spreadsheet, with his last two urinalysis. Would appreciate any advice, especially tips on supplements (b12 shots?) and probiotics...

Hi, and welcome! I hope you get some feedback from the members. This forum is relatively new (as you know, related to the FDMB, but still just getting started).

Good for you for staying on top of Baxter’s labs, that's great. I wonder what the story was with the spike in March 2025. Glad to see he came back down. Will be good to see too where he's trending with the recent draw.

What's he eating? I'm curious. And eating good I'm assuming?

I think it's great you're getting it started. I'm hopeful to see it grow! I'm not sure about the spike but I changed his food from fancy feast to one of the brands from the food list. We started with the weruva BFF, and he liked them ok but the vet was concerned about the protein being higher so I went with the fussie cat market fresh turkey and guinea fowl. It is the exact same formula as inception poultry/essence air and game pate. I think those other two were discontinued. The fussie cat variety is kind of hard to find but they carry it at chewy. I buy from redridge pet market (chewy uses FedEx for shipping and I am fed up with them)

His kidney values seemed to improve on that food. It's still low enough in carbs for him and has enough calories. I supplement with a small amount of phosphate binder (his phos levels have never been elevated but I figure it hasn't hurt him and since cat food generally has way more than they need it may take some of the burden off the ol kiddos?)

And yes he usually eats well! He's never been too super finicky about wet food except in general prefers a pate and not fish. He seems to like his fussie cat.
