Just stumbled across this regarding kidney transplants. Science is incredible.
Renal Transplantation
The University of Pennsylvania will perform kidney transplants as a treatment for renal failure. They require the family of the cat receiving the transplant adopt the donor cat. I love that. They will not euthanize any donors.
It costs between $24,000 and $28,000. It says the wait list is only 2-4 weeks.
I just think that’s great that the technology and knowledge by those veterinarians exists. Especially if the donor cats are unaffected long term. It’s a lot of money though. Maybe it’ll get more affordable if it gains popularity.
